What you see – Big Bazaar in Fatima Nagar, Pune is huge what with it being spread across three floors. The store is located right on the main road of the Pune-Solapur highway and is easily noticeable from a distance because of its attractive set-up and proximity to FAME Multiplex.

What you get - As we enter the ground floor of the supermarket through the main entrance, we see a huge variety of fresh vegetables and fruits stocked towards the right side, behind the billing counters. Towards the left is the cold storage section and the current ‘combo’ offers section that offers a variety of FMCG products with ongoing offers. A huge section for grocery and FMCG products is present as we proceed towards the other end of this floor.

The 1st floor, right on entering, offers a wide range in men’s wear including suiting, shirting and casuals like denims and kurtas. The women’s section holds a huge variety of mostly casual, traditional and nightwear. The floor also has a stationery section and a wonderful corner for book lovers listing the latest bestsellers in the market. A separate shelf also stacks some of the latest DVDs, VCDs and Audio CDs. The chain now has also introduced a separate extension catering to gold and diamond jewelry lovers. This floor also has a separate counter for customers interested in buying imitation, kundan and fashion jewelry.

The topmost floor of Bib Bazaar is perhaps the most exciting one hosting a variety of products starting from furniture to footwear. This floor, as we enter, gives us a view of the entire range of furniture that is available consisting of latest designs and variety. It also has a huge section towards the right end of the furniture section for electronics from all possible brands. The store also has a counter for a variety of brands of mobile phones. This floor also caters to other essential and basic sections of the household like Plastic ware, Crockery, Cutlery, Utensils, Upholstery, Luggage and Footwear. All items are available in both branded and non-branded variants. There’s something for kids too in the form of children’s books, toys and games.

Our verdict – Big Bazaar certainly is made for the common man. Most items are available at a reasonable rate and there are discounts and schemes that run all round the year. The Monthly Budget Bazaar that allows bulk purchase especially from the 1st to the 8th of every month and the Wednesday Bazaar schemes are the ones that draw maximum customers. The products available are of a good variety. They are extremely professional in terms of customer service. As far as the parking space is concerned, for two wheelers, it’s beside the supermarket building and for four wheelers it is in the basement. Although the space is quite sufficient through the weekdays and is easily available throughout the mornings, the weekends can give you an extremely tough time. Hence, finding an alternative solution for parking during weekends, especially evenings is highly recommended.
