House of visual and performing arts | Pune

What you see - House of Art is the brainchild of the renowned artist Vishwajeet Naik. It is located within a beautiful farmhouse. Nature is at its best and is truly inspirational here. There are white swans, exotic birds, fishes, squirrels, artistic fountains, colorful butterflies and lush greenery. The painting area carries the Walt Disney theme.

What you get - House of Art teaches self-expression as Vishwajeet Naik believes that through art people can express their feelings and should be encouraged to do so. Different forms of art like marble painting, finger painting, string painting and X-ray painting are taught here.

Here it is believed that creativity should never be killed. So they have an exercise where every child is asked to explore the farmhouse and draw whatever he/she feels like. The subject and the choice of colors help them determine the psychology of the child - whether he is a loner or a leader.

Also, the little ones are encouraged to innovate and come up with something new to teach their friends. Then there are times when realistic themes like pollution are given to them, wherein they are asked to think of solutions and bring those up through their paintings. The traditional style of painting from Maharashtra - Warli painting - is also taught here.

But that’s not all this place has to offer. To lighten up the mood they have special days like Red Day when they come dressed in red. At times, even picnics are organized to motivate the children. At the end of the year an exhibition is put up where the paintings of the little ones are displayed.

MetroMela found out that dance classes take place here as well. So if your child is interested in learning salsa or Bollywood style dance, House of Art teaches that as well. The House of Art has tied up with a dance academy called Cyclone for the same. Then there is music to learn here as well. Keyboard, violin, guitar and even vocal singing are taught here.

Our verdict - In terms of location this place is like a beautifully painted canvas. Art education seems more reality-based here. Besides, it is literally a House of Art, what with it teaching music, painting and dance under one roof.

5 PM – 7 PM (Saturdays and Mondays – Music)
