Learning is fun at EuroKids What you see – Tucked away in a cute little bungalow in one of the narrow bylanes of Kothrud, Pune, EuroKids International Preschool has a fun filled cheery ambience with interesting pictures of kids, alphabets, animals and a huge painting of their adorable mascot, Buddy the rabbit. MetroMela met the principal of this franchise, Anita Mahajan Lohkore, who with a strong educational background, has unbridled enthusiasm.
What you get – The school offers age appropriate learning from nursery to preschool. A regular day at Eurokids includes playing, songs, teaching with props, toys, workbooks etc, art activity, story telling, CD viewing and puppet shows. They also have a gym and playground with sand pit, slides, pool etc. To learn alphabets they use phonics and pictures. To study shapes and figures they use art like finger painting, spray painting and collage. Field trips are also a part of their study and a special kit is given to every student which has a T-shirt, bag etc.
The school follows the concept of learning by doing. Studies are more project-oriented. So they bring in, for instance, vegetables and fruits to teach kids about them instead of just showing pictures. This practice addresses a kid’s basic need to touch, explore, learn and enjoy while stimulating the imagination. For pictorial learning, they have a library where kids are encouraged to go through books and encyclopedias. EuroKids also has 36 different techniques to improve motor skills of the kids.
In playgroup, the children are admitted if they are between 1.8 years and 2.5 years of age. Each class has a maximum of 16 students with two teachers and a maid who is fondly called maushi and is an integral part of the school. The school is divided into two sessions; the first one is from 9. 20 AM to 11.20 AM and the second one is from 11.20 AM to 1.30 PM.
Our verdict – The preschool seems fun filled and more like an extension of a child’s home. They are constantly updating the curriculum and teaching methods to ensure that they are at par with global standards. Transport is available and annual fees are around Rs. 20,000. Parking may be a problem in this narrow lane.
Anytime between – 9 AM – 2 PM
