Ruby Hall, a one-stop destination for health | Pune

What you see - Any passerby would mistake this beautiful hospital to be a five-star hotel. Established in 1959 by KB Grant, it’s difficult to believe that once upon a time, this palatial 560-bed hospital started with humble four beds.

The interiors of Ruby Hall are in black and white with geometrical designs on the walls and granite flooring. Also they have a small bridge between two sections in every floor that overlooks the city. The view from here is breathtaking.

What you get – This 24/7 hospital is a multi-specialty one with state-of-the-art facilities. Its departments for cardiology, neurology, kidney transplant, IVF, neuro-trauma and cancer have patients from all over the world including Europe, Africa and United States of America. In addition, they have a nuclear science center, diagnostic center, intensive care units and a blood bank.

Ruby Hall is manned by an accomplished team of 150 consultants, 500 panel doctors and 1,500 paramedical staff. It also boasts of being the first hospital in Asia with Image Guided Radiation Therapy Solution (this helps in guiding the radiation only to the affected area). Apart from that, Ruby Hall has been in news for its success stories in gynecology, obesity and pediatrics as well.

Every patient on discharge over here is given a printout of his entire medical history. Besides, if there are unused medicines these can be returned to their medical store as well. They even have special packages for routine medical check-ups. The executive male package costs Rs. 5,455 and the female one comes at Rs. 6,555.

MetroMela also got a glimpse of the Presidential suites at the hospital. Completely decorated with teak wood, the suite is combination of luxury, comfort and cleanliness. Along with two beds (one being for the attendant) it has a compact dining area, fridge and microwave oven apart from leather sofas for visitors. Catering to the needs of people at the opposite end of the spectrum, Ruby Hall also renders free treatment or at a concession to the less-privileged under the Grant Foundation (charitable trust).

Our verdict - MetroMela liked what it saw as it found transparency in Ruby Hall’s way of functioning. They even have a complaint counter for the patient and his family. So grievances if any, could be taken care of.
