Rudraksh, for designer clothes and accessories | Pune

What you see – Rudraksh, the designer wear store that has opened in Pune in Centriole has been started by Rasika Wakalkar. Rasika believes that there is a dearth of quality designer brands in Pune and Rudraksh therefore, has been set up to fill in the gap.

The 3,700 square feet store has beautiful interiors in brown wood, stone finish floorings and a luxurious white sofa to lounge on with a Plasma TV and magazines to read. The display is undoubtedly stunning and worth a second look.

What you get – Rudraksh is a multi designer haute couture store for men and women that houses garments by around 35 designers. The clothing range includes salwar kameez, sarees, trousers, tunics, skirts and shirts. They also have accessories like shoes, bags and jewelry which is displayed beautifully in a glass cabinet at the entrance.

A treasure trove of well-known Indian designers, Rudraksh showcases collections of Abraham & Thakore, Geisha, Tarun Tahiliani, Priyadarshini Rao, Savio Jon, Manju & Bobby Grover, Manoviraj Khosla, Monapali, Namrata Joshipura, Neeta Bhargava, Mandira Wirk, Priya Awasthy, Nikasha Tawade, Niki Mahajan, Vikram Phadnis, Maheka Mirpuri, Wendell Rodricks, Rohit Bal, Rocky S, Sonam Dubal and Vivek Karunakaran. In accessories they have brands like Jamini Ahluwalia’s Kiran’s, Om, Pretty Maria, Shalini Lunkad, Rinaldi and Kokomma.

In women’s wear Mandira Wirk’s traditional collection in salwar kameez is absolutely stunning. In cotton brocade silk her collection in pastels like pink, sky blue etc and embroidery in lace is perfect for formal evenings. To stand out in a crowd, Rohit Bal’s under the line collection Balance, has full sleeved salwar kameez with gota work and lace for an eclectic effect. The collection of sarees, an amalgamation of various designers in beautiful combinations and contrast blouses is interesting too.

If you are looking for semi formal wear, the Indo western collection by Priyadarshini Rao including colorful ankle length silk skirts and kurtis is pretty. Sonam Dubal’s collection of quirky jacket-like-kimonos in vibrant colors are great trendy picks as well.

In western wear MetroMela really loved the Rocky S and Wendell Rodricks collection. Designer Priya has a great bohemian chic collection with long dresses and tops apt to be worn on the lazy beaches of Goa.

For men’s wear Wendell Rodricks rules the roost with his signature linen shirts. We also spotted traditional wear jackets for men that were quite opulent. Savio Jon’s collection of jute shirts in basic colors like beige, black and white are amazing. Our eyes then held sight of the resplendent collection of Vikram Phadnis where pearls and lace work dominated the men and women’s wear in traditional wear. Royalty personified!

In accessories, shoes (formal and ethnic footwear for men and women) and women’s bags are displayed aptly next to the apparel to give you a better idea of mix and match if necessary. Jewelry is primarily made of silver.

Our verdict – Right from fashionable apparel to accessories the place has it all. What’s good is that it has an ambience and customer service to match. The products are very expensive and possibly only affordable to a higher end clientele. So if you are looking for the best and the latest in fashion and ready to spend as well, then Rudraksh is your destination for designer wear. Parking space is available here.
