General tips on eye care
Cleanliness of eyes is essential. Therefore splash water in your eyes regularly to remove the dust settled on them due to pollution.
Avoid direct blast of an air-conditioner or long hours in front of the computer which may cause dryness of eyes, irritation, redness or even watering of eyes. A simple solution to solve this problem is to blink more or take breaks when necessary. This helps in lubrication.
Practice eye exercises regularly which are generally taught in yogasanas.
Do not indulge in self medication or use drugs prescribed for others. In case of any problem visit your ophthalmologist immediately.
After 40 years of age have an annual check up to detect glaucoma or other problems. Regular checkups are also necessary for diabetics, people with glasses or any hereditary problems.
Do not wear contact lens for a long continuous time and remove them while swimming.
Use tea bags on the eyes and drink plenty of fluids and water. This reduces the retention and puffiness around the eyes.
Vitamin A or intake of carrots, spinach and papaya are good for the eyes.
Your eyes need rest, so make sure you get a good amount of sleep everyday.
So take care of your eyes and be healthy!
