Paradise on earth at Osho
What you see - As we entered this mystical, enigmatic abode, a sense of peace and well-being spread within us. Did it have to do with the statue of Lord Buddha on still waters at the entrance or was it because of the positive aura being exuded from the smiling faces of the patrons here. Dressed in maroon robes and dancing to different tunes, these ascetics seemed at peace with themselves.
Spread across 40 acres, Osho International has beautiful landscaping. Abundant foliage, Buddha statues, marble pathways, black pyramid structures, waterfalls, fountains and even an Olympic-sized swimming pool make this place a living fantasy.
What you get – This resort has been conceptualized in such a manner that it allows you to enjoy both the material as well as the spiritual world. It is based on Zorba the Buddha concept which does not stop you from enjoying the materialistic pleasures in order to walk on the spiritual path.
For spiritual awakening, you can choose from Osho Dynamic Meditation (a five-stage technique), Osho Kundalini (a spiritual form of yoga for inner awakening), Nada Brahma (involves humming and meditation to create an inner balance), Vipassana and even some meditation techniques that involve dance. Evening meetings here comprise listening to the recorded versions of Osho’s discourses.
You can also undertake any of the Osho multiversity courses and workshops on subjects like hypnosis, breath awareness, Reiki and body work. It also houses a bookstore where you can buy books that help you learn Osho’s concepts. You could also subscribe to their newsletters and magazines.
Osho International is also a place where you could just while away time, like you would at any other resort. It has simple but beautiful guest houses, a pool, various sports facilities, cafes and a discotheque. In fact, it is a complete township with ATM, locker facilities and even a shopping area.
Details with regard to enrolment are available at the Welcome Center here. The Welcome Package comprises a pre-designed schedule with even an HIV test. In fact, this test is mandated every three months as well. After enrolment, the entry and full-day meditation pass costs about Rs. 450 (Non-Indians) and Rs. 150 (Indians).
Our verdict - This place is definitely a treat to the eyes and the soul. The experience at the meditation hall is surreal. The time spent here is rejuvenating and therapeutic.
